The EPA is warning that some water purifiers in your home may be contaminating your drinking water.EPA spokeswoman Kelly Hauslohner said in a statement that the agency is working to “prevent a water tank discharge at an offsite source” when there are no restrictions.
The agency is not identifying any individual, but Hausluhn said in an email that the company “has been notified that an EPA investigation has determined that a water purification system in the residence of an individual was inadvertently contaminated by an off site source.
This is not the first time the EPA has investigated off site contamination in the United States.
In April, the agency ordered the installation of more than 1,000 new filters in homes in Washington state.
Hauslener said the filters were designed to prevent water from flowing out of the tank into a nearby water source.
The EPA has since removed the filters and installed a new one.
