The next generation of water purifying systems will help reduce the amount of bacteria and harmful bacteria found in the drinking water supply, according to new research from the University of Michigan.
The Aquafits, or Aquafacti, are designed to purify the water that goes into your water bottle, but they’re also great for other types of water filtration and disinfection.
The researchers, led by Michael Baumann of the U-M School of Public Health, used a method to isolate the bacteria in the water used to clean the pipes and to create a test that could be used to assess the water quality in the home.
“We found the Aquafitter could completely remove the bacteria,” Baumann said.
The team created a “biofilter” for drinking water that was also designed to be safe and effective for use in homes.
The biofilter was made of biodegradable polymers, and it could be reused for cleaning water.
The research also found that people who regularly use the AquaFit Water purifier were not more likely to develop urinary tract infections or urinary tract cancers compared to people who did not use the system.
Baumann and his colleagues also found a decrease in the bacteria that can cause urinary tract infection, as well as the rate at which urinary tract tumors were found.
The study was published today in the journal Environmental Science & Technology.
“I was really surprised to see a significant decrease in urinary tract disease [in people using Aquafitted systems],” Baumann told The Huffington Post.
“There was a lot of anecdotal evidence of this, but there wasn’t much research done in a clinical setting.”
Baumann’s team tested their findings in an online survey of 2,000 people who live in communities where the Aquamitt system was installed.
Of the survey participants, 9% reported experiencing some form of urinary tract symptoms and 3% reported developing urinary tract cancer.
That means that there were 7,944 people who used Aquafiti systems in the U.S. between January 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016, and 2,923 of them developed some form or other of urinary symptom.
The number of urinary symptoms that were reported increased from 2.9% in 2013 to 5.6% in 2016, Baumann noted.
“This is something we were expecting to see, but we really didn’t expect it to be this high,” he said.
While this finding is not enough to conclude that the Aquamarit water system is effective at removing bacteria, Bauman said the data is interesting and could provide insight into other types and combinations of systems that could help reduce water contamination.
Bauman’s team is now working on further testing that might be able to identify which other systems might be more effective.
“What we’re really interested in is finding out whether this is going to be something that we can add to our drinking water systems,” Bauman told HuffPost.
“The Aquafitt system has already been proven to be an effective tool for reducing urinary tract inflammation and urinary tract tumor incidence in older people, so I would imagine that the other options are going to prove to be more efficacious.”
The Aquamit system works by filtering water to remove bacteria, which then goes into the system to purifying the water for the home, the researchers said.
They found that the system was most effective at filtering water in the house and drinking water, but not all of it was effective.
The BioFilter was designed to help people purify water for home use, but Baumann suggested that the BioFilter might be better suited for home cleaning and disinfecting, where it is used as a source of filtrate.
The water filter is designed to use only biodegradeable polymer, which means that it is unlikely to cause harmful bacteria in a household, but the BioFilt has a number of drawbacks that Baumann cautioned against using as a filtrier.
The filters do not remove the water from the plumbing or equipment used to treat water.
They also don’t disinfect water.
A biofilter filter is only useful in very specific conditions and should only be used by people with special health and/or medical concerns.
The only water purification systems that Baumans team tested were the Aqualife AquaPure, which was designed for home and business use and was designed specifically to remove microorganisms from water, and the Aquasafe Aquafitor, which has been proven effective in cleaning drinking water for a variety of home use applications, including disinfecting the drinking tap.
While Baumann emphasized that his group did not test all the Aquanife Aquafiter systems, the BioFilters and Aquamarits were the ones that they tested and found to be the most effective.
